First Rhubarb Custard Pie of 2014/ May 2nd

I was so happy to be "gifted" lots of Rhubarb. I loved sitting out side and cutting it for baking. There was enough to freeze for four more pie!

Here is the first RHUBARB CUSTARD PIE made from my mom's recipe she,  inspired by the Settlement Cookbook

We had a very late spring blossoming time this year...but wonderful that Rick suggested  and took this photo during a birthday celebration visit under this magnificent flowering tree.  

I had a wonderful birthday WEEK.  

Had a superb time with Janet  Ricken Henning ( my "niece-by-choice) over MAM lunch, many friends joined me for supper at my favorite Chinese restaurant, then another gathering and dancing, and then a special supper with Rick.  

My amazing son's and my beautiful granddaughter's singing to me,

 remember me with lovely thoughts in writing, emails and generous gifts.

My classmates gathering was the closing of active celebrating with our luncheon in Sheboygan and their rousing happy birthday song.

Thank you to all..

Living many decades longer than my parents has been a real gift!

I hope I can pay it forward...for you all are truly my rock!

May 2014 Luncheon with High School Class mates

A wonderful time was had by all at my gathering of high school classmates. My classmaates and I meet many times during the year...BUT,

The high point is they have this the week of my birthday! Can anything be more wonderful then have you dearest and longest friends celebrate together! And...they can really sing "happy birthday" thee best!
There are no words to say about how much this means to me!

 The next one is being planned by Tom and i and doing it around here, 

the northside from me, in Septmenber.
