Little things mean alot!

We have been blessed that our wonderful neighbors, just north of our home, were not hurt in this fire that totaled their home. Only the brick exterior may be salvageable! Now we all wait to hear if they will rebuild, and we hope so and soon!

As is best....I made a rhubarb pie to comfort us!

Fun Spring weekend

a weekend of fun:

Friday was MAM(Milwaukee Art Museum): note my friends in photo's there, who did the main program: TRUE SKOOL, then Saturday we did lots of yard work, thanks to Tom getting the mowers started! Later we took in supper Sbarro's and ANGLES AND DEMONS at the opening of the multi-plex with two couples who we enjoy spending time. Sunday we headed to Pewaukee Lake for wonderful lunch so generous given by a docent for our docent class, and on to hurling games of our kids, followed by a cookout of : m-m-m steak, double-baked potatoes and beets!
Oh my, Tom has energy to apply weed and feed to the lawn!

Gardening and more...

Today was a day to get more done around the house and yard. Replanted the strawberry plants from home -indoor pot- to strawberry pot which now resides on our porch.
Planted two lovely ornimental cabbage plants with a spike in pot that rests in old neat chair. It is so very wet that will wait a day or so before doing a little grass reseeding. Memorial weekend I will put in my veggies into the many whiskey-barrels!
I love being a suburban gardener!

GROUP DAY TRIP TO CHICAGO

It could not have been nicer day trip :
•Beth Shalom B’nai Zaken Ethiopian Hebrew Congregation (House of Peace for the Children of the Ancient Ethiopian Hebrews) for discussion on it’s history and a marvelous lunch.

• A Force for Change African American Art and the Julius Rosenwald Fund
this is the first exhibition to explore the legacy of the Julius Rosenwald Fund, created in 1917 by Chicago businessman and philanthropist Julius Rosenwald (1862-1932), who made his fortune as CEO of Sears, Roebuck and Company. From 1928 to 1948, the Rosenwald Fund's Fellowship Program awarded stipends to hundreds of African American artists, writers, teachers, and scholars-many with ties to Chicago-as well as white southerners with an interest in race relations.

SPRINGING OUT TO AGAIN DO YARD!!

pictured here is our "way back" as we lovingly call our back yard.
we had six trees taken down and now will have the last pine taken soon as the weather permits, and the tress in the near area all trimmed. poor pine is great looking on one side but dead on the other. we cut the grass to midway, so that we can get to the mess left from getting the sumps "removed". very soon we will level and reseed, again, when the weather and time allows. the flag in the ground in the one photo is a small tree who's stump was forgotten. the orange line is cable that will be buried may 31st! rabbits and such eat thru the lines often. new cable was replaced this winter and so far the animals have attacked other things in our yard.
yes!! those are cows skulls! some time i will tell how i took heads of cows, skinned and be-brained and prepared to be art objects for my students. they have become homes to many birds!

I NEED YOUR HELP...we have a huge patch of mushrooms growing on the south side of our home..have not find removal remedy KNOW ANY! THANKS FOR SHARING!

Great visit with Stephen and Christina!

We had an amazing time that my son and lovely daughter-in-law planned. as you see we ate amazingly and often, one meal surpassing the next in quality and taste. We loved our vist with mike..we lucked out on in-laws!
we when to the ART IN BLOOM at the museum and we were total thrilled with the collection, flowers also. How wonderful that kay made time to be with us making sure that we did not miss some of the collection. i loved buying myself a gift at the museum store. the "green expo" was fun and profitable as i got ideas on recycling fabrics for projects that i shall surely do, seed packs i share plant, and more. but turely i love getting to show off how fast i learned to ride the "segwag" that allowed people to ride around! i loved the art show we took in one evening at an amazing building filled with studios of artist with a great array of media, subjects and skills. it was especially nice to visit and see elisa fine paintings!
we could not have had a better time....and i already miss stephen and christina, wishing we lived closer to share time with them. they are always in my mind and heart and so grateful for their constant communications
